During His ministry to the Jewish people, Yeshua (Jesus) journeyed throughout the land promised to the Jewish patriarchs, presenting Himself to the Jews as their Messiah. He was a Jew living in a Jewish land among the Jewish people, yet, much of the knowledge of this Jewish society, its culture, and traditions has grown dim with the passage of time, in this work, Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum shines a bright light on the life of Yeshua and the land of Israel during the Second Temple period, interpreting the Gospels from a Messianic Jewish perspective.

To achieve this, Dr. Fruchtenbaum has done original research in the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek source texts, and has also drawn on the works of other scholars and the writing of the ancient rabbis. A.T. Robertson’s time-tested A Harmony of the Gospels provides the framework for his exegesis.
In the first volume of this multi-volume commentary on the Gospels, Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum begins his detailed exegesis of the life of the Messiah by providing in-depth background information on the Second Temple period. He then covers the birth, childhood, and adolescence of Yeshua up to the point when He begins His public ministry.
Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum holds a B.A. degree from Cedarville University in Hebrew and Hellenistic’s, a Th.M degree in Hebrew and Old Testament from Dallas Theological Seminary, and received his Ph.D. from New York University with the completion of his dissertation, Israelology: The Missing Link in Systematic Theology. He is a founding director of Ariel Ministries and a much respected biblical authority in evangelical and Messianic circles.
Volume 1 of Arnold Fruchtenbaum’s study about Yeshua takes us deep into the Second Temple and rabbinic Jewish background that helps to explain this unique fist century figure. It is a fascinating journey with many details that illuminate the life of the Messiah of Israel. While one might raise a question here and there, Fruchtenbaum is fair always showing what the discussion at any point is. His full citing of Jewish texts allows the reader to see the direction of the conversation. This book is full of important observations about Jesus in a Jewish context. It is well worth the time of a careful read and will be a handy resource for a long time to come. “ – Darrell Bock (Executive Director for Cultural Engagement, Howard G.
